✨WEAR THE BLUE TIGHTS✨
Years ago, I lived in a conservative suburb of Melbourne. I remember walking past boutique after boutique, white, beige, beige again, maybe a dusty pink if things were getting wild. Everything felt muted. Safe. Socially approved.
One day, I strolled through town in a black-and-white polka-dot pencil skirt and bright blue tights (because, obviously, my soul needed color). A woman stopped me on the street and said:
“Oh, you’re so brave wearing those tights. Well done.”
Brave? For wearing color?
It hit me: so many people are afraid to stand out. Afraid of judgment. Conditioned to conform. We dim our light to fit in.
I had many of these kind of moments living in the city and they changed something in me.
I decided I’d rather risk rejection than abandon my authenticity. I chose creative freedom over conformity. I chose to honour the Self that wanted to play, to shine, to live out loud.
Fast forward 16 years, and I still get comments on my clothes from people who seem afraid to stand out from the crowd or be judged by others.
It surprises me but I understand.
When we reject parts of ourselves (even something as simple as ignoring the desire to wear something unusual), it’s often because we’re scared of being rejected by others.
That fear shapes our lives more than we know.
But here`s the thing:
Choosing yourself, your style, your voice, and your rhythm changes everything.
That choice opened everything for me.
My gifts activated.
My magick revealed itself.
My tribe found me.
I belonged not because I fit in, but because I showed up as me.
It’s not just about tights.
It’s about self-love.

Last Sunday the theme that dropped in for DJ Raku to shepherd us through our weekly dance church was the dragonfly.
Such potent little packages of ancient wisdom and freedom these creatures are!
I stepped in to curate the altar (which I used to anchor the energetic container for the dance) this week because I adore the wisdom dragonflies carry AND because I am currently the custodian of this activated painting by @thecosmicmermaidastrology.
I spent the whole week soaking in the dragonfly vibes—it was honestly so beautiful for me.
Sweet... yet brimming with that kind of deep knowing only ancient remembering can bring.
Deliberate, fast-moving, and precise—with codes of metamorphosis woven through their wings.
They reminded me that transformation doesn’t always have to be heavy and slow—it can be light, radiant, even playful.
Dragonflies are born in water but eventually take flight, and that journey—from the emotional depths into the clarity of air—felt so aligned with the way dance moves us through the layers of self.
There’s something about how they hover, shift direction, and move with such clarity... like they’re showing us how to navigate change without losing centre.
How to be in the in-between—between spirit and body, emotion and thought—and still stay connected to the now.
Reminding us that it’s natural to grow and we don’t have to carry the old shape into the new sky.
So grateful for this medicine.
